Meetings

Part of owning a business is joining relevant committees and going to meetings.  Tonight was the Douglas Design District.  It was informative as to what is happening in the DDD.  www.dddwichita.com.  Check out the "Better Block Project".  It is going to be awesome, especially for those tactile people like me.  April 27th and 28th, they are going to bring in non-permanent items to show what the area by the Donut Whole and Tanya's could look like.  Check it out!

DDD Selected for Better Block Project!

It's fad that's popping up all over the country that involves one block that is completely transformed into a trendy destination; one that's specifically bike and pedestrian friendly. The transformation will happen at Douglass and Hydraulic April 27 and 28, 2012. While it will only be temporary many hope Wichita officials will consider making the changes permanent.

"We like to focus on a single block and put all our energy into how can we change this and make this into a vibrant and exciting destination," said Team Better Block's Jason Roberts

So with spring officially here, it is cupcake time! They are chocolate cupcakes, with a chocolate French buttercream.  You know you want one!!!

St. Patty's Day Goof Off

So it was just Mom and I today, so we were goofing off a bit.  After the honeycomb set up, I was able to pull it off the table in one blob, so we played!

Round of 64

We are slightly obsessed with March Madness at the shop.  We had the games on all day (on the computer) and had our sign out front all day supporting all of our favorite teams!  I, of course had to put IU first!  My mom and dad went to WSU, my grandfather went to KSU and the rest of the staff are KU fans through and through.  We all LOVE basketball and March Madness. Love Love Love it!  Go IU!

It's been a few days...

It has been a few days since I posted last, nothing thrilling and exciting going on right now.  Just bagging bunnies, decorating panoramic eggs and inputting lots of data (the really fun part, HA).  I am going to attach some pictures of the panoramic eggs Sherry has been working on.

Research

One thing about owning a chocolate shop, is that you are constantly researching.  Lately I have gotten on this kick as to finding machines like ours (the big cream mixer).

I found one, saying it was patented in 1901.  How cool is that?

Ketch's Palette to Palate 3-3-12

Saturday night we participated in Ketch's Palate to Palette.  It is a fundraiser and the guests sample many types of wine and food.  There is also a silent auction and a live auction.  This was only the 2nd year (we participated last year also at the Scottish Rite) and they were at capacity of 450 people.  It practically doubled in 1 year!  We were joined by Velvet Cream Bakery, Larkspur, The Hyatt, Luca, Corporate Caterers,  Bocconcini, Newport Grill and Culinary Catering.

Flash Back Friday- Star Wars

One day about a year ago, we were looking down the street and saw Star Wars!  We called them into the store for a photo op!  Here are the photos!  (I know it is weird, but I have never seen a Star Wars Movie, this is the closest I have ever been to anything Star Wars related!)
